Transport development and street space design for north-eastern Lemgo
Aims of the project:
The project aimed to develop a functional structure of the network of access and connecting roads in the north-eastern urban area of Lemgo so that street space design proposals could be created.
Project contents and structure:
By evaluating traffic counts carried out by the city of Lemgo, conducting an on-site survey, and recording the patterns of use in the area, we first examined whether the recorded traffic volume and interdependencies already corresponded to the functional structure of the street network, or whether the network could still be improved using guiding or design measures. The defined types of streets were allocated to section types and located in the site plan in accordance with the recommendations for urban street space design (EAE, EAHV) and the new guidelines of developing urban streets (RASt 06). For those stretches of roads that were narrower than required for the usual design according to RASt 06, individually developed section types were proposed. The work was conducted in such a way that it can be applied to the entire area of the town.
